My only option I have is the purchase one of these bad boys for my non drilled 30 cube. I have a mag 9.5 but at 4 ft it's power is reduced to only 700 gph! I've heard that air bubbles trapped in these are caused by lack of water flow, and that's not even taken in to consideration I want to add a manifold. So my question is should I buy an over flow rated under my return pump?

Ok. I just didn't want to have less power or flow in my dt for the overflow to work properly. I'm looking a getting the lifereef overflow box since the lifter pump can fail and I don't want to rely on something that can fail.

My brother uses the Eshopps, but there are others. I agree on the pump failing, but I figured it was an extra help on those, but maybe not.

I rent and it's on carpet so I can't afford a flood and my landlord would be pretty ticked if it happened hahah

I have an eshopps but plan on drilling this spring. They're kind of a hassle. But they work.

Actually there's very little noise after they are broke in. My only complaint is that since I don't have enough flow to run both tubes it's operating on one. If I got a stronger pump both would work fine I'm sure. And starting it is a pain. I rigged mine up with a aqua lifter for a just in case scenario.

Eshopps are said to have an automatic start up in case of a power outage. Since your return pump doesn't have enough flow you use a liter pump to keep siphon is that correct?

Noise can be fixed in an overflow box. 2 U-tubes should eliminate the bubble issue. No pump. It starts automatically when power comes back on with the eshopps

I have an Eshopps on my 75g for almost a year and a half with no problems at all. The first thing I did was make a silencer for the noise, but besides that no other modifications needed. I do a weekly wc and the siphon starts as soon as I start the return pump. The only complaint I have is that the U-tube gets a lot of algae, but at just $8 I just by a new one and replace it, which is 3 times a year.
