Overflow box cleanup?

Do i have to clean my overflow box from leftover food and stuff? Or i can just leave it? If its going to give me an ammonia spike i would leave it. But if i absolutely have to clean it ill have to try.

If you have good biological filtration, it won’t bother anything for a long while if this is a tank over 50g. I generally don’t clean mine more than once a year. If you want to cut down on the detritus turn off your return pump for 10 min while feeding, but if you do this you should run a timer or set an alarm so the pump turns back on. Because you WILL forget to turn it back on eventually.
