so I just had my acrylic overflow box made and it looks great. I want my return to exit back into the tank about 2 inches below the top of the box and will use loc line in the tank section. Do i need to drill a hole in the box for another bulkhead or is there a different way that is more prefered?

Is this an open top or do you have a canopy? The easiest way is to simply bring the returns over the top and use the lock-line to direct the flow where you want it. If open top, you may not like it from a cosmetic perspective, but it works fine. No need to drill anything. Food for thought.

yeah it a rimless and Im familiar with that method, the reason im not doing that is because it will flow back into the tank under a mini tide pool i made
