If anyone has problems with a splashy salt-creeping overflow, give this a try:

I made an overflow box lid out of Komatex FPVC sheeting from Home Depot. Material was $8 for a approx 2.5x2.5 foot sheet. It’s water resistant and environment friendly and easy to cut with a box cutter.

The lid rests on the edge of the overflow box. Along the glass walls, I siliconed 2 rectangular FPVC flange (1 inch x 3 inch) for the lid to rest on.

Don't you just love the little DIY projects that turn out perfect.

Wow, that looks great! Can you post a picture of the flanges that it rests on? Can't quite picture what that looks like.

Not the best picture, but here is a shot of the flange the lid rests on. It’s made out of the same material FPVC. It’s rectangular shape, 1 inch width x 3 inches long. Mounted them with silicone at the same level as the plastic overflow box. To insert the lid, hold the lid flat/parallel to the water surface and slide it onto the overflow box.
