So my tank went from this peaceful sound when I had my hob skimmer and hob filteration to no sounding like a dam or a water fall after I installed the sump, with a CPR CS-102 HOB overflow box. How can I make the noise stop? Thanks.

Those boxes are extremely noisy just by design. Before I moved up to a drilled tank I switched to the eshopp hob overflow and it was much much quieter. Truly no hob overflow is dead silent but unless the kids and or dogs actually stopped making noise I could hardly hear it in the same room.

It's so sad that before I got that, most reviews said they were quiet. I'm sure there has to be a way to turn down this dam in my tank...[emoji21]

Try this conversion just don’t use the metal parts. Use all pvc parts.

Both of my current tanks have HOB overflow boxes and I played with foam filters, adjusting input levels etc. What cured both of them to really quiet levels (one is in living room and other is in an office) I put a small ball of chaeto in rear compartment. They've been quiet for months and the chaeto gets nothing but natural light so it's very slow growing.

Did you ever have a issue with it clogging the overflow? I like that idea as it could also act as a mini fuge.

The basic Idea. This is a Eshoppes PF-1000. I dont see why it wouldn't work for you.

Remove the stuff for inside the box. I run one bulkhead with nothing in it. This drain has a valve. I put a piece of PVC pipe in the other. It has no valve.
The length of the PVC pipe sets the water level in the rear box. On mine this sets the water level in the front box. Mine can flow water through the siphon tubes faster than it can come through the weir.
You close the valve on drain one until the water rises in the box to the height of the PVC pipe and a silent trickle goes down drain 2.
You can use a sponge on drain 2 but I don't. I have also run a strainer in drain 1 but you have to keep it clean. I stopped doing that too.

On mine a change of a few mm in the length of the PVC pipe makes a big difference in how noisy it is.

Drain 1 with the valve should be below the water level in the sump to keep air out of the pipe.

No clue just a older YouTube video to show the conversion steps ( not material used ) with his exact hob overflow to try to help this guy out and stop all the water noise.
Oh I thought it was your tank.
