every part of it. No over flows yet and am pretty sure it's fine, curious if anyone else has theirs setup like this or if it's the norm to allow a little air space in the U-tube? Worth slowing down my return pump a little?

There is no air at all, I previously had a small pocket of air where you could see the flow pouring over. Now the entire tube is solid with water, just want to make sure I'm not gonna flood anything
No, you do not want any air in the tube itself. Thats a siphon breaker.

+1, all you want is water, if there was too much air, that's where you run the risk if breaking the siphon and overflowing.
