I went with a custom Modular Marine box without teeth. Haven't drilled holes for it yet so it's not installed but the workmanship looks excellent. Very responsive as well to questions.

I did the same. My box is similar to the one I linked, but uses 1" bulkheads for everything, so it is a VERY tight fit. I have also lost about $120 in fish making their way through the overflow to the sump and into the skimmer intake, so I got some black plastic gutter guard from Lowe's and put over it, now nothing gets through and i lost no surface skimming capability
@redfishbluefish & @jedimasterben you guys rock. I have a Reef Savvy overflow, its awesome, but i'm about to setup a 20G nano and would go either route over another $200 overflow box.

@jedimasterben Thanks for the idea. I was thinking of using some clear window screen but something more rigid might be better.

Yes, window screen won't hold on unless you wrapped it around the entire box, which might not look good

This stuff is rigid enough to just sit in place. The suction that the water creates is holding it in place.
