Hello everyone and Happy Easter for Sunday. I am thinking about converting one of my old 20 gallon long tanks to use for a sump. My question is does anyone know of a easy to build overflow box because drilling my tank is out of the question right now? Would be easier to just buy an overflow box?

I don't know anything about building an overflow box but if you end up needing one I have one i could sell you with stockman pipe stands included. It's a dual overflow from eshoppes.

thanks for your reply. what price range were you thinking about?

I have a 20 gal long that is set up as sump. I would sell for $35 let me know if you're interested. I can send a pic.

Setting up a tank as a sump can be done but there are some things you'd n3ed to know. First, don't use standard silicone to put the acrylic baffles in (fine if you use glass baffles). There is a special silicone that is safe for bonding glass to silicone. 2nd, why is drilling out of the question? Overflow boxes aren't reliable long-term IME. Drilling is pretty easy and you can silicone a acrylic overflow box on pretty easily to create a reliable solution. I have everything you'd need if you're interested in going that route.

Thanks for your response. One of the main reasons in which drilling is out I think is that with the fish and coral that is already in the tank I have no where to place them while the tank is being drilled.

send me a picture and the measurements is you do not care. Just want to make sure that it will fit in the space and still have room to do the maintenance.
