I have a Exotic Marine overflow 24", bean animal. the secondary is aprox 1" above the main. At what height should the secondary drain be above the main drain?? after i get the tank in the final location and filled it will be almost impossible to get to it. I heard that the height of the secondary controls the amount of water in the overflow therefor the flow. Thanks

The height of the secondary should be 1/2" below the wier to minimize splashing and have the main drain 6 inches below the wier so that it can't suck air from the surface. It's silent.

so looking at the red pen, which photo would need to be 1/2" below the weir?? The opening where the water enters the secondary or the top (u shape) of the secondary. Either way it will not fit in the exterior box

I just made a mistake if the 2ndary is installed 1/2" below the weir, I would have to raise the emergency drain to just above the 2ndary right??
