Overflow Noise Help

My overflow started making a lot of noise all of the sudden. It’s not a toilet flushing sound, it’s just a loud drain noise, kinda like when you drain a bath tub.

I have a 120 gal aqueon tank with dual overflows. I used the maxflow kits that came with the tank which uses a 1” durso standpipe. I used the flexible grey hose that came with the sump for the drain lines.

It was pretty quiet until about a week ago and all of the sudden the noise started. It kind of comes and goes. I added two more power heads, not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Can’t figure out how to make it stop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Powerheads are probably to blame, surface swells will force more water at a times (comes and goes) over your overflow.. I just installed a new wave pump and noticed my overflow also seemed a little more noisy than before.

I added two sicce voyager 4 pumps on the back that are always on. I have two hydors that are on the ends and are hooked up to a smart wave. I’ll have to see if it only happens when a curtain pump is on. Thanks.
