Overflow Noise

I just installed my Eshopps pf-300, and it is quite noisy. It sounds like a constant waterfall. Any advice on how to tame it down?

You can raise up the standpipe in the drain section, so the water doesn't "waterfall" as far.

You can also put netting or foam over the weir teeth to break up the water as it falls, which quiets it, but detritus can build up and increase nitrates.

It sounds like the noise is coming from the standpipe, so maybe I’ll try to raise that. Thanks!

I have this overflow as well and this makes mine much quieter. I plopped a feeding/dosing syringe in the acrylic tube and it stopped the gurgling sound completely. You can also cut a piece of acrylic to fit it then glue it on for a more clean looking silencer. I'm sure you can even break off the little tube but didn't want to in case I needed it for something.

No problem, hope it works for you! Mine isn't dead silent but it is much quieter than before. It was a crazy loud gurgling sound and it pretty much isn't there anymore.

That worked great.Thanks! I’m not sure if it impedes flow, but most of the gurgling went away.
