worst case you can always use the hang on the back over flow box!
My old 55 gallon had 1 inch durso stand pipe with 2 of those 3/4 inch holes for the return hoses. I used the Rio 2500+ then the tunze 1073.40 (max output) with 3/4 inch barb and a split that to the 2 return holes. Tank ran over 3 years without flooding issue. The tank is still running at a different location using the Rio 2500+
3/4 inch drain pipe is I think close to 50% less water volume compared to the 1 inch drain pipe........I would feel a bit nervous.

I literally just stick air hose down the drain and leave some sticking out try if possible to mess with yours see if u cant use this as your solution

Another thing you can do, is tee into the pressure side of the pump, and run a valve that returns right back into the sump(similar to a fuel system on a vehicle). You can open that valve to remove some of the flow from the display tank, or close it to raise the pressure/volume flowing into the display tank. This way the pump isn't being forced to pump less volume at higher pressures.

The tank looks to be just set up, if it were me, I would take it back down and make the hole 1" and have 2 of them. Sucks to here that after all the work you put in setting up, but you would be happier in the end. You will be better off as well, I don't think you will ever get a3/4 drain silent.

Holy moly who gave you advice on that? My suggestion is dump that entirely and redo it again properly. Drill another hole and put an internal and external overflow box on the tank. You do not have a surface skimmer with your setup which is fairly important for a reef tank. Drill 3 holes on the external box and do a bean animal full siphon setup. This will be totally silent.

Also if you have a sump, why is your heater in your tank?

Yep, you could use the current drain hole for a return line. More work now but much better end product. With as much money as you will end up sinking into it, don't skip a little extra work to make it right.

Your pipe in the tank leading to your sump, is that a water funnel above

it? That's what's causing the noise. This is how mine is set up to prevent the funnel effect that causes all that noise! A couple elbow pieces and you'll be smooth sailin man!

Well more exact. You'll need a 3 holed pvc(T pipe), an elbow. A cap and a few inches of pvc. Make sure to have a small hole drilled to the cap to let the air out

I got the flow to be silent now it's running good. The heater is in my tank because it won't fit in my sump.

I had similar problems with one of my daughters tanks. I was able to minimize much of the noise by creating a U tube siphon inside the tank. I did not glue that part of the assembly so I could temporally submerge it creating a solid column of water so the siphon would work. The up tube portion of the U was deliberately too long and tilted out so as to make it adjustable thus controlling water flow. Because the water now slid down and angled pipe that gurgling stopped. Skimming action was preserved and the tank water level was now adjustable up or down as required.

Also you can restrict your drain valve. Close the drain valve until the sound is gone. also, make sure the drain pipe submerse around 1" below the water line in the sump.

This is the way I do it, but you need a separately plumbed emergency overflow going into the sump... otherwise it is just asking for trouble. This really needs to be redone

I agreed that the ops need to have separate line for the emergency drain. This propose will solve his noisy issue with his current configuration not for emergency.
