overflow screen

I need to shrink the size of the opening on the overflow grates. Can I just use stainless steel to cover it or will that cause issues? If stainless steel wont work, what else can i use?

Something that small wouldn’t be good because it will plug off super quickly. Why do you need it so small?

i can get something bigger. primarily trying to figure out if stainless steel is safe to use.

Pure 316 stainless would be okay to use but “stainless steel” comes in many alloys and it would be a gamble to me. I wouldn’t risk finding out it’s some garbage alloy and is rusting away. My 2 cents
