That's an odd looking overflow. Just to make sure I understand what you've got going on, there is a hole drilled in the bottom of the tank right? And your hearing water fall down to that hole?

Yes that is correct, it just sounds like water down a drain
It isn't leaking just loud

Ok on an overflow that narrow I doubt a durso would fit so I would just put a straight pvc pipe into the drain sticking up to about an inch below the Overflow teeth. No need to glue it. This will solve the waterfall sound. Next if you are having an air suckling sound or flushing sound I would put a valve on the return pump line and slow down the flow.

on the outlet underneath of the overflow, you could install a gate valve. Turn the gate until the water in the overflow reaches near the top of the overflow creating a full siphon affect and be silent. If u do use this, it has to be a gate valve and not a ball valve, they are more expensive but miles better at fine tuning the flow.

I wouldn't restrict an overflow unless you have an emergency drain.

With this design you may have trouble finding a solution. Do you know who made the tank? Maybe do a search on it to see if anyone else mentions a solution.

By overflow teeth do you mean at the top or at the bottom sorry I am very new to this

Is that one of those overflow and return combos popular in Asia? Single drain tube with another smaller diameter return inside it?

What's the plumbing underneath look like? Is there a gate valve for the return?

Who makes this tank? What's the pipe coming out of the top goto? Is this a small tank?

Yep that is the one

Not a lot of people are going to have experience with this setup here. If you dont get the help you want here, I'd suggest reposting with a more specific thread title. Does this type of system have a name? If so, put it in the thread title. Or just say, "need help with single pipe overflow/return" or something like that.

Thank you I will report with that title and see if anyone has any info
Thank you

Yeah, I wouldn't really know what to do with that overflow setup except to change it out with something better. Is it a glass tank or acrylic?

I think it's an awesome design, as long as it can be silenced.
