Overhauling my sump good or bad

so I have a sump with a refugium and thinking of draining it for a couple of hours. Pulling out all of the mud cleaning the rubble out a bit, killing some aptasia. Then adding some fesh mud restocking it with some pods and kicking the system back on.

Wanted to see what everyone’s thoughts were. Would it be to big of a bactiria drop?

As long as you are able to keep the main tank heated and constant water aeration you’ll be fine. When I switched out my refugium/sump it was off line for 10 hours while updating all the plumbing and pvc glue to dry. I was a nervous wreck the entire time as I felt like everything I did took to long and in the end I don’t even think the fish or corals had a clue what was going on around them lol

If you aren't having any issues I wouldn't bother. My tank was doing great until I decided to redo/clean my sump and clean my sand. Lost some inverts, almost lost some coral and took over 2 months to stabilize back out.

Change half the mud, let settle for an hour or three. Turn back on. Good for another year
