Considering ordering an APC 1500 VA/900 watt UPS power backup. The goal is to keep enough surface agitation to keep the corals/fish in my 65 gallon alive for 6-8 hrs in the event of a power outtage. I thinking of doing this with either my Eflux Flow 6011 (16 watt) or my Koralia 240 (3.5 watt).

Will the 1500 VA be enough to do this? How much surface agitation is sufficient?

Thanks!

Thanks. That's helpful. Any idea how much surface agitation I would need to keep everything alive? Would a koralia 240 be sufficient? I have 2 clowns, 1 midas blenny, 1 royal gramma and a bunch of corals in a 65 gal.

You should test how much water it moves. Point the koralia to the surface, you'd want to see as much of the water moving.

While I haven't had an outage in a long time, I always keep a bottle of 3% peroxide. 5-10ml per 10gal every 12hrs or so will also help if there's an emergency.

I have the same UPS if I were to leave on my filter pump, skimmer, heater, gyre flow - 90 mins. If I cut the main filter pump 4.5hrs. I haven't checked on it with a flow pump. If I get it checked out I will post it.
