Ok got a new tank. 46 gallon bowfront. All I keep is lps and zoas. The tank came with a light and I still have mine from my other tank. Which one should I use? The new light is a 2-250 watt MH current usa. My original light that I have is a 6-39 watt t5 tek light. I personally think 500 watts of MH over a 46 gallon bowfront is way way way to much but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't say way too much. I had 400w over a 20 gallon once upon a time, but if you are only keeping LPS and zoas, go with the t5s. I've noticed that all my stuff is happier when I put it in my friend's frag tank under T5s. Sell the other set up and get some more money for corals, or fish... HTH

How deep is the tank? If the tank is deep then you will need those extra watts, but if it is relatively shallow 150's should be fine. Also, what tank did you use the 6x39 on? BTW, I noticed you live in Deltona, I'll be visiting my inlaws there tomorrow! haha.

+1 to all. and ship that mh fixture up to ny :D

$150 plus shipping it is hours

Tank is only like 20" deep. Standard 46 gallon bowfront. The t5s use to be over a 29 but use to only run 4 of them. Sorry you are coming out deltona. Not much here....lol
