Oversized skimmer. Best way to run it.

Ok so I have a 220g DT and 50g sump. I’m running the bubble magus B11 it’s rated for 750g. I’ve always had high nitrates around 50 I’ve done nopox. Also running an algae scrubber. I’ve ran it wet and ran it dry. Dosed microbactor7 and microclean. It’s helped but didn’t drop to much. I filled up my sump with live rocks about 3 weeks ago and still doing microbactor7. I started running my skimmer 13hrs on at night. 11hrs off during day time. To help with Ph swing. Is this the best way or should I change it to maybe 4hrs on 4hrs off throughout the day? Thank for the help.

Is your skimmer oversized? I only have maybe 200g of water and the skimmer is rated for 750g.

i have a over sized skimmer and it sucks lol i find my self bottoming out n and p but i want to keep it running since i run a co2 scrubber . i have my drain port open on my cup so it goes back in the tank i would say just watch your po4 and no3

Is yours rated " up to 750" I have about 150 of total mine is rated for " up to " 400.To be honest I didn't know folks didn't run them 24/7. Is it a new

Yeah it’s rated up to 750g. Couldn’t find anything about light or heavy bio load. I’ve always ran them 24/7 also but heard about a lot of people running like 12hrs a day so you don’t strip the water to clean.

I am not sure what objective you have, lower nitrate concentration?
