Long story short I have to move my Marineland 90 gallon to make room for a new couch. I was wanting to build a new stand while I have to empty the tank anyways. Currently I have the fabricated stand that came with the tank, and there is no room for anything under there.

I was wanting to use rocketengineers 2x4 design but I want to make my stand about 6in wider and 12in longer to give myself more room in the stand. Is putting a 48x18 tank on a 60 x24 stand OK, or what kind of mods do I need to make to the design.

Just looking for some ideas.

Check the pics on the first page of my thread. My tank is 780 x 780mm, and my stand matches that size. But I made my cabinet 100mm bigger all round to allow for more room for equipment.

I’ve never used that particular design, preferring one of my own. You just need to make sure that the bottom rim is fully supported and cannot deflect otherwise the tank may twist and pop. Since the corners of the tank won’t be directly supported by the legs, I’d upgrade to 6” beams in the stand top.

best stands ever imho ( i have a house full of em ;) last forever , a major design element is that the edges are all supported on the bottom including the brace, as long as you do this or use a plywood top to distribute the weight youll be ok. in other words if any part of the bottom frame of tank is not on wood put wood there.
