I’m currently battling dinos in my IM Nuevo Fusion 30g. Part of my attack plan is to pop as many of the boogers as I can with an oversized UV. I feel like my options are a bit more limited because of the way that the sump is configured, so I want to make sure that I get something that will be usable with this AIO configuration. Someone recommended just finding a pond UV off amazon for $150, but I honestly don’t even know where to start.

Any advice?

How about that one.

Innovative Marine Auqa Shield UV Sterilizer Midsize

And read the review.

I actually did purchase that, and it’s been running for about 3 weeks now. It’s only 11w, though, and I’m concerned that it’s not going to be entirely effective at zapping the large quantities of dinos that I have floating around. I don’t have any evidence to back this up, though.

Interesting that you posted this as I'm about to order one myself (mainly to help prevent cyano / dinos). I'm also using the IM 30L tank. But I'm probably getting this one - it's 10 watts but it uses a pump to push it through which seems like it would be more effective? It also means I can continue using a media rack on one side and filter sock on the other (I'd have to get rid of one of the two with the drop in one because the water can't drain into 3 places...).
IM UV Universal
It's also 15% off there, ending today...

Then again, this one's also quite a bit more $ and maybe the flow through the midsize would be sufficient? And the pump is extra wattage / heat (this tank gets really warm in the summer). Curious what others think!

Stick with it and give it time to do the job. Use as low as flow as possible.
Low flow and kill time is key (exposure to the light)

so the midsize Aqua Shield fills the entire media rack and lets gravity do the work of pulling water through. This way, pretty much 100% of the flow through one side ispassing through the UV. I don’t actually know what is so different with the universal, other than it’s slightly less powerful and has a control for flow rate. ‍

Well being a pump, it will force the water through the chamber. With the drop in, water could flow over the edges. Does that make sense? And it takes the space of the media rack or filter sock, so I'd have to do away with one of those. The Universal one could go in the chamber next to the media rack one... So it's kind of a toss up!
