Overstocked tank?

I want to know if my aquarium is over stocked people always say it is and I don't think it is. Maybe it is. It's a 100 gallon (60x18×24) and I have a 3 or maybe 4 inch picasso trigger, a wrasse that's always under the sand he's about 7 years old, 1 clown, 5 damsels, and a coralbanded shrimp. Someday i want to get a tang. Yellow or hippo would be the dream, tanks to small for hippo though. If not yellow than kole tang I think its called. Any thoughts?

i would say not even close to overstocked but shocked the shrimp is still with you

What are your parameters and maintenance to maintain stable levels ?

As long as nutrients are stable . Not constantly increasing I would say you’re good .

I’ve had this same cleaner shrimp for years .
The shrimp cleans the pink tail trigger . Along with every other fish .

Even the snowflake eel I had never ate the shrimp .

Both the eel and trigger have are every small fish in the system . Including damsels. Mandarin , yellow flank wrasse ,

As long as nutrients are stable . Not constantly increasing I would say you’re good .

With a canister I’m having a hard time believing you have zero nitrates with that many fish.

Basically, I'm the only one telling myself I could get a couple more fish but everyone says no because some new guy who works on primairly birds at my lfs said that I couldn't get any more fish and now my family believes them and refuses to let me get anymore. Noone ever listens to me.

you may have trouble acclimating a new fish with an established trigger but if your filtration and nutrient export are up to par, chemically you should be fine.

If i were in your shoes, i would catch the trigger and put them in an acclimation box for a week or so when adding new fish. obviously, the new fish needs to be semi aggressive and able to hold their own.

an acclimation box need not be anything pricey either i use two of these:

What kind of damsels? They could be bullies for new small additions depending on what type.

Sounds like a good stocking, something similar to what I'm planning in my 120 gallon system, though zero nitrates isn't good, maybe run your skimmer less or, if necessary, dose nitrate
