So I got a text from the owner of my LFS saying someone was breaking down a tank with some big tangs. I have been looking for some larger fish, so i went to get them.

The fish are very healthy and look great, but they are the fattest fish I have ever seen.

This might be a dumb question, but will them losing weight be an issue? I will not be feeding like the tank they came from as the amount of nutrients in their system was obviously high.

I keep my fish very well fed, while being able to export the nutrients... thoughts?

I've had some fish get plump but not really fat. Having them fed properly and their losing some weight shouldn't be an issue. In fact, given they live in a tank and can't swim as much as they might in the wild, getting more fit is probably a good thing for them.

How fat we talking? Pictures. Not unusual, for example, that a large vlamingi tank could be 2 plus inches thick.
