so I added an apex system to my tank a few months back because I thought it would ease my stress of making sure the tank is stable but lately ive been feeling that its just made things more stressful because of all the information it provides making me want to chase numbers that I cant perfectly balance for longterms.

its not so as if I don't understand the information but I am by no means a vet in this hoby, still newb like 2 years in lol.

don't get me wrong however, I love the apex and all its functions. was just wondering if anyone else felt for a month or two after setting it up.

You just have to let the little things go.
So Ph goes up and down. How does the coral look?

PH does go up and down but no too much, ranges from 7.6 to 8.1, usually swinngs at night. and as far as the corals they look great! only have 2 torches, one lobo, 2 hammers, and a BTA and rock flower nem atm

I have had a lot of issues with my parameters with the same corals and they are pretty forgiving. Don't worry about chasing numbers, only time to get worried is if you see large changes in a pattern.

wow beautiful zoa colony u got there tho mayne! I have awful luck with them and I cant figure out why lol. all my hammers, torches, and BTA were doing great and my little zoa colony just withered away. i think I had it too far up in my tank tho it was in the middle.

I bought an Apex for the system I’m building about two months ago. Right now, I only have a 175 gallon sump filled about 200 pounds of live rock and a few fish while I wait for my display.

I started expecting that three of the four probes were going to be inaccurate (everything but the temperature probe). I did my best to calibrate them as instructed and I think only the salinity probe is throwing off weird numbers. My intent was to just gather data until I get my display tank and figure out general trends.

I don’t use the parameter monitoring function to get accurate numbers, I just expect it to give consistent numbers so I can quickly look to see if something is going awry.

I bought a triton to go with my Apex and I expect that to be accurate. However, I’m not going to even bother setting it up until I add my first SPS corals.

Trend monitoring and remote access and control of the tank functions are what sold me on the Apex. I’m often away for 4-6 weeks at a time and this and a few strategically places web cams will give me absolute piece of mind.

Do you plan on linking your webcam to your Apex? I can’t seem to find good instructions on how to do so.

I haven’t found good instructions either. I bought a few of those $25 Wyze webcams from either Lowe’s or Home Depot and I just use the app that came from Wyze.

Overall, I’m startled by the quality of video I get from such a cheap camera. I thoroughly recommend them.

Here is a screen capture from the app.

yeah I mainly bought if for the summer time becuase nimust about every other weekend so the web cam and auto feed function really sold me. got the doser for it too but I really just don't feel the need for as of now, weekly water changes keeps my tank in check for the most part. other than phosphates, cant get them below .20on a good day lol
