Was the test without peroxide ?

I refilled my up to the limmet and press on the bottom - I do not got these bulb as you do. try to soak the equipment for a day and then redo the experiment

The test today was with water, in a dish of water. I will put it in my sump and let it soak for a while.

You bioload plays an important part, the lower the bioload the less % peroxide you use also how many catalysts are you using you should be using one? When first installed bubbles will often be seen to exit the Oxydator, this is quite normal and should not cause issue under normal use..

It only came with one catalyst. I expected to see bubbles outside when I first put it in, but not inside coming through the pinhole.

I'm a little scared to use my oxydator now after the overdose. Is the 3% from the drug store ok to use or should I just dilute my 8%? Do you think 4% would be ok for the sake of easy dilution?

No reason not to dilute your present peroxide if you wish.

Alright I will try a 4% solution when I get home today. I hope I don't get all the bubbles coming into the container again. Maybe if I put the brown plastic cap on the container and fill the cavity with water, then put on the ceramic bell, that will eliminate most of the air that would otherwise be caught under there.

I used mine after a while and I had mixed my own with rodi to bring down the 8% h202 to 4%. Before I noticed the malfunction about half of the container was filled with air and every thing was stressed. All the algae on my rocks died for a little and then my tank cycled. Urchin was RIP

Bummer, so yours leaked from a bad seal, or from bubbles coming in through the outlet hole? Do you still use it?

I bought a size A for my 240g (runnning at 9%) and a size D for my 30g (running at 3%). The D crapped out after about 6 months. It started dosing way to fast. I made sure it was clean and free of sand. It failed two times in a row. I gave up on that one but my size A in the 240g works fine. The A is a much much better design in my opinion. I don't trust the closure method in the size D anymore.

The model A is indeed a better product, however, I used the model D for quite some time without any issues in a nano tank. The lid of the D being plastic is bound to suffer wear and tear after repeating putting on and taking off held only by the tightness of the fit, there is no locking mechanism like on the A, or W or Maxi, unfortunately. I have never used the mini but I guess its similar to the D's cap. The only other issues I have heard about the D was when somebody failed to ensure the cap was fully pushed home resulting in peroxide escaping and emptying within a short period. Oxydators are very old designs now and although the A and W models work very well perhaps it's time Sochting considered a revamp of the 2 smaller models in the range of which there are 5 BTW.
