Is anyone familiar with oxydator, I have a 450 gallon tank, stocked mainly with large, tangs, angles, triggers, been reading where they supposedly make water crystal clear, dont want to waste money if they are not what there hyped to be mainly in Europe, looking for experiences with them.

Welcome to the forum Robert! Don’t use it myself but lots of European members on here I’m sure somebody will chime in.

Hi Robert and welcome to R2R!

I did a fair amount of research on ozone last year as my LFS was advising me to install one because of the tank benefits including crystal clear water etc so I have no doubt it works. They had to come out, measure the room, set it to the correct killing power etc.

The issue for me was that ozone can be fatal, to me and my family sat next to it, if used incorrectly. It can also cause all sorts of health issues. This sort of put me off so to speak.......

So in my case I decided to skip ozone as even if there is a small risk, it wasn’t worth my health for the potential benefits

Hi. I have many posts on here about Oxydator's and their use. Yes they are nore rhan capable of giving you gin clear water. Yes they will renovung yellowing. Yes they will benefit most fish esp large ones that need lots of oxygen in the water and they have lots of other benefits. Fir your size tank you would ideally need the "W" model and use 9 or 12% hydrogen peroxide with 2 or 3 catalysis depending on your feedings.

He's not asking about ozone or ozoniser but Oxydator's which do not use electricity to produce ozone but hydrogen peroxide to produce oxygen which is IME much safer and easier to use with none of the downsides of ozonisers.

Somebody on here I think bought one recently perhaps put a separate post asking where you can buy one. A few have imported Oxydators from the UK but postage will be expensive.

I posted the following on another thread on Oxydator's but thought it might be of interest here.

I am moving house in the new year and have been doing a bit of sorting out etc. I came across my old log from over 30years ago and a page in it on my experiments with my Oxydator A. bit faded in places due to some of the input being done in pencil, I guess I could go over them in ink.
Not sure you will be able to see but I pushed the peroxide to 16% I believe with 3 catalysts , not good as my H.magnifica reacted negatively to the high levels. Make of it as you will, any questions just ask.

Very interesting, thank you for the info.i am ordering a w model for my 500 gallon aquarium

Adrian of seahorse breeders in the UK sells them and does export to the US but postage is steep unfortunately.
With the w model with 550 gallons of water do you think 3 catalyst with 12% is a good starting point, mostly tangs, angels, triggers in tank, couple snappers, puffer,

Yep, my mate has a W in his 350 gallon and uses 4 catalysts and 12% peroxide in the sump of his reef tank.
