After a meal of freshly shucked oysters, I thought I would add the shells to my tank. The tank has been cycled but no fish yet.

I mean you could add them but I do not see the reason why, would they help or would they be just for looks?

I thought they would help the aquaflora, coming freshly from the ocean. But I got a good answer from my very knowledgeable LFS. he said that the ocean's bacteria makeup is very different in cold water from the tropics. Also, there potentially could an introduction of bad "things" as well.

Your LFS owner is a smart person!!
