I bought 4x Live Oyster from a local Asian Super Market (AA Supermaket on Beach Blvd, Garden Grove), they were on ice but not long enough to kill them and they were responded to my poke test so I pick 4 best looking one and all 4 of them alive.Oh that is awesome!!!!!!
Yea I'd say spawning!!! Well at least the new scallops are getting fed.
Whered you pick that one up Yuki?
Yes totally jealous.
Nice. That the way to do it.I bought 4x Live Oyster from a local Asian Super Market (AA Supermaket on Beach Blvd, Garden Grove), they are were on ice but not long enough to kill them and they were responded to my poke test so I pick 4 best looking one and all 4 of them alive.
The tag said it's USA farm.Nice. That the way to do it.
When I lost the first one or two when I did that, they definitely did not look like that.
That really looks like tan being jetted from the animal. Death is a murky ooze.
Do you know where they came from? Cold water warm water?
They are prob a cold water oyster, USA pallet prefer them. The tag said it's USA farm.
I can see the flesh of all 4 oysters are white color with black rim run along the edge. They are responded to their surounding spot like when my six lines wrasse inspecting them they will close their shell.

I did drip acclimate them for 4 hours (1 drop per second so there is no sudden temp change shock) like I usually do for everything.Circle of life.
How long did you let them warm up?
I think I added tank water to the ice and oysters when I got them.
Dang. Well you have it your best shot.I did drip acclimate them for 4 hours (1 drop per second so there is no sudden temp change shock) like I usually do for everything.
This is really cool!! Once my tank is fully cycled nicely with current bio-load, I'll look into getting at least one.
How would you QT an oyster? Feed it dirty water from main tank? Wait a month to see if it lives / prospers?
