I want to run some ozone for the water clarity benefits. My apex ORP probe reads between 450 and 475 already with no ozone. Once I add ozone what ORP level should I set the unit to shut off at?

I’m not sure if it is accurate, but if it is accurate, it is pretty high and I’d limit it to 490 mV and see if you get the clarity you want.

I been doing alot of reading and chatting with people.. I also saw Vid of Tidal Gardens everyone is saying around 300-400 with sweet spot at 350mV...I am also in the process of buying ozone reactor to add to my tank so I am still researching...Hope this helps ...going to use GHL orp probe to monitor

They could always try a ORP reference solution to check how close it is.

Possibly, but I tried using ORP references and found that exposure to the standard changed the reading from the probe for a substantial period. I suspect it perhaps changed the redox state of metals bound to organics on the probe itself.

Soak the probe in vinegar and then retest your water. I had this issue in the past ORP probe rises 50pts or so a week and just needs a five min soak. Once you have the baseline, which is closer to 250-300 shoot for 340-350 with ozone. Or 50pts higher than your reading.

@Randy Holmes-Farley been a long time. Glad to see you’re still around. The hobby appreciates it.

Thanks. Yes, it has been a while. I wasn't sure if you were the same Genetics from ages past, or if a newer person took the name here. :)

My sump is pretty clean and no noticeable growth on probes. Tank is only 4 months old. Still worth soaking the ORP probe in vinegar?

It doesn't hurt. :)

How did it work out? @areefer01

I think maybe this is for the OP / @ReefDreamz as they are the one that wanted to try Ozone. I only commented on the possible use of the reference solution. I believe RHF also replied about the possible probe change after moving between the display water and reference solution. Similar to what would be seen with a water change or possibly longer I guess.

In any case I wasn't the one trying Ozone. While I can see some value in it I do not like the risk. Even if it can be mitigated or low. I have enough going on I don't need to add another layer if that makes sense.

Hope your morning is going well.

I am moving forward with doing ozone, as soon as I can get my hands on a Avast reactor and poseidon 200.
