Hey everyone. Not sure how many are running ozone, but here goes. I’m running the Poseidon 200 ozone reactor with a danner ap40 air pump into a reef octopus OR150 reactor. All was running ok, but now if I run it, I get the ozone smell. Switched all the carbon in the reactor. I can’t tell if there’s enough air getting into the reactor. ORP has never really seemed to move much when it was running. Always between 360 and 410. Orp jumped when I added neck extensions to my skimmer. The ozone reactor seems airtight. I’m like an idiot behind the tank blowing into the different air tubes. The ozone smell wigs me out. Any ideas?

I ran Ozone for over 40 years in my reef and if you smell ozone, something is wrong. I only use 50mg/hr ozone in my 125 reef but I usually run a 100mg/hr which croaked.
I run it full speed with no controller in a 5' skimmer. I use no carbon.

Maybe you are running to much ozone, you should not smell it and it will rot almost anything it touches including your lungs

Have you upgraded your tubing to ozone resistant stuff? I would suggest running your hands over it looking for cracks and stiffness. The white air intake tube for my Reef Octopus crumbled in my hand after 3 months.

You either have a leak before it goes in or too much is coming out.
I don't get any smell at all unless something is broke.

Thanks everybody! Nice to hear from you Paul B! I’ve read tons of your stuff. You sir are a brilliant aquatic madman! I’m checking everywhere for leaks, but I can’t find anything so far. Pre ozone gen to post ozone gen is airtight, so I’m assuming it’s the reactor. Hard to tell where I’m losing air. Maybe I’ll try running into my skimmer. It’s weird, ran for a couple years, never a smell. Suddenly a smell. I’ll keep working on it

quantum nyos 300 skimmer
Milwaukee controller with Neptune orp

I run the tubing from the ozone box directly to the intake for the needle wheel.

no more smell
maintaining 300 orp

All of us electricians are brilliant but some of us are dimmed.

How did you set this up? I have a Nyos 300...are you still running this config? Carbon?
