Packing Peanuts-Did you know?

I just wanted to share this little fact that some folks don't know about. If and when you order from BRS(Bulk Reef Supply) they always pack their equipment in lots and lots of green packing peanuts. These particular peanuts are made from corn starch and are totally biodegradeable. Instead of having to try and get them out and making a mess trying to bag them up, just dump them in your sink and turn on the faucet. They will immediately break down and wash right down the drain. No mess to deal with. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

I really wish they would include a little slip of paper letting folks know this. I even saw a review recently on their site about how they used so much to pack some dry rock, and the guy said it took 2 weeks for him to get rid of it through his recycling bin. If he had only known.

LOL- There was a guy at the Earth Day festival last year that had a booth by mine and his packing peanuts were made of corn and grain. He had dipping sauces and salsa out to demonstrate that they wwere edible. It was great to watch people see him eat it, and then only a few would try them. These in particular werent that bad.

Unfortunately some vendors have used these when shipping fish/coral... not a good idea

I actually use them for when I'm fishing.

For anyone that chases bottom fish (carp and cats mainly) dampen a nugget and wrap around your hook, when the lead weight lands the nugget will keep your bait out of the silt/weed and when it melts will let your bait settle softly to the bottom.

My orderes from bulk reef came with a slip of paper telling me they are biodegradeable?? This was a a couple years ago too.
