Paint for DIY aquarium stand

What kind of paint is good for the inside and outside of the stand?
Any recommendations to get a smooth coat?

I have Zinsser primer from a previous project that will go on first.

I will be painting the stand black.

I use Glidden Semi-gloss and when I paint mine I may also put an extra coat of Polyeurathane to give it a glassy appearance.

Maybe even a tad bit of Paint Thinner to put on thinner smaller coats.

To get it smooth lightly sand between coats, especially after your primer coat.
