I want to paint this ugly magnet black…. Suggestions on paint?

Is that an algae scraper? If you are going to leave it in, it will eventually get covered with coralline algae even if you paint it. I wouldn't risk it for the possible short term gain.

If you plan on keeping it in your tank let the coralline give it some color.
