Tonight I found my husbands painted war coral had been knocked off its rock and was upside down int he sand. I got the tongs and put it back but noticed that where it was touching the sand had turned black. Just wondering if this is normal and will turn back normal or did the sand kill the coral where it was touching? I caught the yellow coris wrasse trying to get to a copepod that was apparently living under the coral and figure that was the culprit on how it got flipped. We haven't glued all of the corals down in case they need to be moved for better lighting/flow.

Thanks!

How long was it in the sand for ? if not long then it should bounce back in no time and is just mad.

I really have no idea, it looked completely black when I got it back in place but the blue lights were on. Now that the whites are on it looks brown and not so black. Sure hope it does bounce back. The wrasse usually comes out of the sand when the blue lights come on and I found it within 10 minutes of lights coming on. Keeping my fingers crossed since it was a beautiful piece.

I would love to get a pic but the tank is a bowfront and until I get my lens in from BRS you can't see anything except the sand. Hopefully it will be all better by then! I am going to keep an eye on it.
