I have a 90 gal. Reef tank with a 30gal. Fuge, which has been up and running for 6 or 7 years. The inside of my stand has taken a beating over that time. I would like to repaint it, WITHOUT taking the fuge out or even apart. Is this possible without killing everything? I would roll or brush on anything I applied, to minimize any loss as opposed to spraying. If this is possible are there any recommendations as to what paint or other products to use. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated TIA

Make sure room is as well ventilated as possible, maybe blown fan.
Try to really wipe clean and preferably a scuff w/ damp or wet scotch bright and wipe dry will help stick best.

Carefully, and I mean CAREFULLY... use some Kilz 2.
It's water based.. i would definitely cover the sump or any other area that might get paint dripped in it...
Not trying to be rude, there's paints with primer in them all in one. If me kilzs then that paint.

It's always preferable to have a finish coat, agree, sheds water.
Kilz gives great adhesion.

I'm not super fond of the paint and primer in one myself, it's a compromise, and in our enclosed stands you need something that really adhere's well and holds up.

It's tough to do w/ tank running and sump and gear though, so sometimes compromises must be made.

Most products that bond well do come w/ some release of vapors that we ideally would not want around our tanks, but there are some good low VOC products out there and it's not a bad idea to check a real paint store rather than a big box store product.

Sherwin Williams is awesome, but a little expensive, my area we have Vista paint which is a good option, dunn edwards, frazee, something of that nature and they usually have good reps that understand the products and give good advice usually on what may be best for you.
