Has anyone ever painted a JBJ stand ? I’m looking to buy one from someone but the stand is white, I was wondering if I can paint it black to match the rest of the house.

I would say just some black spray paint would do it but get high quality clear coat of ur chouce

Thanks !!
I know nothing about painting, so would it be best to sand down stand then paint it ? The paint that’s on now is a glossy white

They make a black stand. Prepping and painting would be a significant project, the stand is coated on the outside with something resembling clear plastic. It actually has a protective film on it that you have to remove when you assemble it.

Sorry should of clarified that I’m buying the tank from another person. Would it be possible to sand off the coating ?

I wouldn't try to sand it all off, but if you used a very fine grit sandpaper paper to scuff the finish, and paint several coats with something that will fill in the scratches and follow with several coats of clear, it might work out. The finish is almost like a resin clear coat.

It really depends on what you want it to look like. I wouldn't tackle doing it myself, because I don't have the space, time or proper equipment to make it look like a piece of furniture when I was done. If you have the resources, why not!
