Maybe internal parasites got to it at last. Leopards as you might already know suffer alot from it. I recently lost a Chaoti due to it in my belief as well. It really sucks! I hope it makes it for you!

Thanks Cubbies, I appreciate that. It very well could have be something internal. I checked on her this morning, and she is not buried, but still alive. Her breathing has slowed down and seems to be relaxed. I am hoping for the best, but have accepted the reality of the situation as well.

It's possible it could be flukes, as that's what leopards are most susceptible to, and often come in with them. If so, prazi-pro is what you need.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Chris. FWIW, this is the one species I've never been successful with, and I'm pretty hesitant to try again. Best of luck.

I actually dosed the tank with it last night, and am picking up all 3 packs of this today: http://www.drgsmarineaquaculture.com/medicated-fish-food.cfm

I turned my LFS onto these products and he is giving me all 3 packs as a thank you. I know they have all the meds I could ever need in the food, which is great as long as the fish is eating.

Hunter, was your experience the fact that they wouldnt eat prepared foods?

Sorry to hear that your female hasn't been doing well, hope she pulls through. Good luck with your efforts, it is a horrible feeling when you see one of your fish having a hard time. I went through a similar situation with a chromis that I had gotten a month back, I know a common fish and not expensive but it was one of the first fish that I had gotten. I did everything that I was suppose to when acclimating the fish, I came to the conclusion that I had unfortunatly gotten a fish that just wasn't as strong and had been stressed out too much by the time I had gotten it. Acclimated fine, did mostly alright in an acclimation box for a few days, stayed out and about with everyone on the day of release, dove into the sand that evening never to be seen again. :/

In your video you can see a orange/red mark on the top fin. That is male color for sure. Ive seen leopards do the same thing that your female is doing, and be fine. Is she still doing it?

I'm not sure how she is doing yet? I am at work, but will be home in a few hours

I am trying to figure out the best amount of time to leave them in the acclimation box. It seems to be a very fine line between safe and stressing them.

Update: The sick one did not make it. it has been a couple of days since she passed. upon inspection of the gills there was a lot of red inflammation, not sure if this was from a worm/fluke/parasite though. I did not inspect any further.:sorry:

On the bright side, the male is totally happy, free swimming, and eating well. I have been trying to get to eat a medicated food with prazipro in it, so far he tries it, and spits it out. But i'm mixing it with mysis and garlic, so hopefully he will get enough meds from that. I plan on moving it to the DT in 3 weeks, just not sure how long I will leave him in the acclimation box. It might just depend on how much attention the other fish are giving him.
