Hello all, I have had a lightning maroon for 5 months now and my lfs just got in a tiny new one. I think it would be very cool to pair them. I've paired ocilaris before but never Maroons. How should I go about this? I have an acclimation box I plan on putting the new fish in for awhile. How long should I do this? What behavior should I look out for? Would having a bta help?
Thanks.

I got stupid lucky paring my lightning maroon clowns (lmc).l, named Karen and Chad. I havea 4~5" female and a 2 inch male. The female came from a dude ~2hrs away, the male from an lfs. First things first I got the anem (green bubble tip) and the male and they paired literally overnight. The female came the next day, and took all of 4 hours to find male and anem. Been living in the anem ever since. This is in my 75g tank. I have post if you look me up

Just be advised as to how agressive these fish are when hosting and spawning. They have killed all of my cleaner shrimp and fed to anem. No more cleaner shrimp. They will tolerate only the tank boss near the anem, the sailfin tang; everyone else gets chased off.

Although they have made peace with the copperbanded butterfly, but it took them a month, he can't get within 3" before they chase it off. No one else is allowed within 6" of the anem, been bit a few times during maintenance. They have an active fued with the coral beauty for the past 6 months for a hole in the live rock next anem.

Thank you for your response I appreciate it. I know it would be a bit daunting but this gave me more confidence.

Provided the new one is very small, say, under 3/4”, I just put them both in a QT setup, watch, and wait.
If she accepts the newcomer, in the DT they go.
If she beats the crap out of the new one, back to store.
Very hit and miss stuff.
The point being, if it doesn’t work you need to be able to separate and or remove.
I use this method on all clowns but I have not tried with Maroons.

Karen and Chad. Almost spit out my coffee - perfect names for clowns, lol!
