Pairing my Lightning Maroon

No thank you!!

Funny you say that I was thinking about the critter keeper! The holes for the oxygen/water flow is key obviously. I laughed cause I thought of my baby hermit crab I FLEW home from South Carolina to Nevada. Was in a little blue critter keeper..

Possibly making a run to the store today.. Also thinking to myself I want the perfect mate for her, but also with chances being slim on success I want to make sure I dont go crazy on a super nice maroon strain (peace keeper)

Thanks for the info, that box the flame angel is in is pretty wicked.

Mama got another black widow today!

Was thinking to myself what could possibly help with aggression... I know she loved her nem deeply so I thought maybe adding a second will spread her love a bit and she wont key on the male if he tries to go into that single nem... All just my thought process

Still have not found a pair for her! Decided to go with a big N-O on the one at my LFS well because it just didnt have the weird corky pattern and feel I go for my livestock. Anyone have maroon broods they want to get some juve's out let me know I am taking them as contestants on "Lets Pair that Maroon!"

I come back to this thread to seek possibly if any has maroon juveniles they are getting raised up and need to find a home for? The little guy that was at the LFS has been alone for so long I get worried its starting to change into a female..

That being said.. she is a lone still.. Big Mama wants a hubby!

Happy reefing all.

Following for science. My black clown is such an aggro little d*** when I stick my hand in I don't think I can pair him now
All for the science!

Most likely though, he is now a she depending how long you have had the clown alone.

Do you have Facebook? If so there is a clownfish breeding group called “clownfish breeding USA” there are many people on there that have clutches all the time some will ship for cost other I believe sell them.

Been a part of it, had not seen much on maroons, good call though put a post out for submission.

Thanks!

Setting up the QT here in the next couple days... why you ask?

That's right. The universe has spoken. I have a vibe I am going to be finding her little BF here soon, and before they even meet. he will go through a quarantine process. Sorry NOT SORRY.

Regardless.... the search continues... but I got good feelings for the future.

QT is set.... ready for her new boyfriend.... but...

I need to find a boyfriend

That being said anyone with uniquely patterned juvenile maroons... HOLLER AT CHA BOY

Happy Sunday Reefers!

Did you find a boyfriend yet @ReeferBlaine
Extremely sad story...

Was out of town for work for three days and my inkbird mustve kicked off and the tank began to overheat. The tank reached a peak of I believe 82 degrees and the Black Widow BTA nuked itself and killed everything in the tank..

Really a tragedy... Now just the lagoon remains and the fish in there..

I know this thread is pretty old, but I thought I might try my luck asking reefers much more experienced than I for help! The main question I suppose I have now is:

Have I completely blown it?

These our are first fish in this tank after cycling, and we got two lightning maroons. One is slightly larger than the other, but not by too much. They were living together with an anemone for a week before we picked them up from the LFS and were fine for the first day in the tank, but we think we didn’t feed them enough the first night and the smaller one started to beat the snot out of the bigger one.

We got a little breeder box and put the mean one in there. It has been four days, and it seems like things are going better. We feed them three times a day and usually after feeding the larger one will swim up to the box and they’ll do “butt stuff” as we have started to call it.

They’re definitely both still juveniles. When would you recommend letting them meet again? Or is it a lost cause? They’re our first fish, and we love them both :(

And when I say beat the snot out, I mean it. He got exhausted at one point and was swimming sideways on the surface so I got him separated. He is fine now. Here are the little buggers:

This is when we first separated them so they’re still a bit aggressive. Butt stuff now is much more sideways.

Any tips/thoughts/comments? Anything would be greatly appreciated!!!

It all really depends.

Sometimes you can reintroduce in as little as a day other times it will take multiple time outs over a few months. Depending on fish
Maroon pairing is kind of the wild west, isn't it? :p Good to know, thank you. They have been hanging out all day today, so I think we will give them a chance after we feed them next. What level of fighting would you say is normal? I know they're going to start throwing punches as soon as they're introduced, but I don't want to re-separate them sooner than we should.

I’ve had success pairing but what I do is get a very tiny fish to go with a large maroon who is clearly female.

Do you think there is a reasonable chance of success with our two smaller maroons, or is a fatality inevitable? I really don't want to send a fish to its death. How long did it takes your to mature/your maroons to pair once they were introduced?
