Does anyone happen to have experience or knowledge on pairing the puffer species Canthigaster valentini , the Valentini puffer? I have had a male for over a year now in a 20gallon lagoon softie tank and was wondering in the difficulty of pair them. The LFS happens to have a slightly smaller female and stock and with the surplus of time looking at the tanks, I felt the tank could use a second fish. Currently filled with Tyree toadstool, rasta zoanthus, blue sympodium, and several other variety of polyps. Also has a clean up crew of your typically hermits and snails, as awell as some peppermint shrimp he has never bothered.

That's amazing the the puffer hasn't bothered your corals or inverts. Had to re-home a Blue Spot for destroying my LPS and inverts. Was fine for a long time and then "BAM" he went nuts on them.
Will your LFS allow you to "borrow" the other fish for awhile? Or is there someone who would take the fish if it didn't work out that you know? Would be very cool to get a pair going.
Love puffers. ;)

I have a 10 gallon that is fishless with some small high end colonies and random frags that i could move the female into if things didnt turn out well, so far been lucky with fish like copperband butterflies, pygmy angels (except for a lemon peel who decided she liked space monsters and only that variety of zoanthid), and tobies.
