I have been thinking about adding a shrimp and go be pair to my tank. Should I urchase 1 that is already paired up or will they usually pair up if you add them separately?u

Funny enough, several years ago I bought 2 shrimps that were "paired" with a shrimp. The shrimp never had anything to do with the gobies. About a year and a half ago I moved, during the move I lost the shrimp and one of the fish.
Shortly after that I picked up a new shrimp at an LFS. I released the shrimp near the cave of the goby, within 24 hours they were paired up and haven't been apart since.

I tried to add a pistol shrimp and my goby ate it. Swallowed it whole as soon as I dropped it in the tank.

I'd add them both at the same time if possible.

Same thing happened to me with my pistol, put him near my gobies cave and he darted in and ate him...never again.

I am interested in this as well, what are the best shrimp use? I'm very hesitant to toss in any shrimp since i just finally removed a mantis shrimp from my tank after 3 years of hell.

just make sure the shrimp will pair with the gobie some shrimp dont

my pistol shrimp dosnt pair with gobies and I am blameing it for the loss of 2 fish in the past month, I still havent found a body

I'd be worried the pistol would go rouge and start murdering my fish and disappear into my rock work like the mantis.
