Hey guys and gals, I have a 3.5" interrupta angel. I am unsure if it's male or female (leaning toward female) and wish to pair him/her up. Any suggestions? I feel that pairing it up with a smaller one, around 2", would be my best bet. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

It is against R2R forum rules to claim you have an Interrupta(us?) without a picture.
Lol!

Sorry about the crappy, washed out pics. Much nicer in real life.

100g seems a bit too small and risky for two dwarf angels with unknown gender, especially when they are very expensive.

1. Nice fish!

2. Where did you get it?

3. I've read that these prefer significantly cooler water than most dwarf angels. T/F?

They do prefer lower temp water but can be acclimated to reef temps. I keep my temp from 75-77 and it's doing great.

I agree, it's a bit risky, especially if they don't get along.

Could try a divider in the tank, center, for a bit maybe?

Other than that - I've not nothing for you. I know nothing of the fish let alone the cost which is non of my business. I do know that there was a thread or two on this forum about pairing up flame angels. But again not related to what you are asking I guess. I'll just go back to my corner :D

Based on what I've seen of them, I'd say that yours looks fairly masculine. If I wanted to pair him with another, I'd try a smaller, more feminine looking angel, with a tank separator that would allow the two to see and interact. Eggcrate, perhaps?

Beautiful fish!

Thanks guys. I’m going to hold out for a small one and will put it in an acclimation chamber for a couple weeks.

Spectacular fish though. One LFS had one in their not-for-sale-tank and I briefly considered a life of crime. In retrospect I decided to save my ‘silly’ $$$ for a tigerpyge (haven’t seen one in a long time).

Here’s a pic of my captive bred baby interruptus almost 11-12 years ago:

Here is a pair of my captive bred interruptus. I’m just happy to have another one again.
