Hello, I got three pajama cardinalfish for my birthday from my daughter but one of them, smallest one, never ate. I tried miss shrimp, brine, flakes, pellets, and emerald green assortment but nothing. I thought maybe one of the other pajamas was bullying it because it would stay in a corner of the tank. I woke up today to find it had passed away. I'm so sad. It didn't show signs of disease or parasites. Does this mean I have to treat the rest of the quartined fish (2 clownfish, 2 pajamas, etc)?

Sorry to hear that. We too love our PJs.

It could have been many things. The fish was likely on it's way out, before you even introduced it to your system. Since the other fish are already in the tank and eating, probably the best thing to do is just leave them be. If you start so see tell tale signs of disease, then maybe pull them out and treat them.

I don't believe the death of this one fish is an indication that any additional action is necessary. Sound like you already have them in QT? Are you just observing, or are you using the copper and prazi protocol? Please carefully observe the other fish for several days just in case it was something other than starvation.

My experience has been that starvation can happen quickly for new small fish that don't eat for several days. How long did you have the fish before it died?

Hi, thank you for your help. I have them almost 3 weeks now.

Thank you for the tip.

Sorry about your PC. It probably was already weak or sick and the extra stress from transport may have did it. That will happen from time to time. Pajama Cardinalfish are beautiful but someone forgot to mention that they can be very aggressive towards there own species. I have 4 and 1 out of the 4 is very aggressive. He/she chases the other 3 around like crazy and 2 of the 4 are bigger than it! I tried catching the aggressive one but he/she isn't dumb at all. I get close to the tank and it goes to it's hiding spot where I can't get to it.

I also have found they all pick on the weakest until it's dead. Then the next weakest until you are left with only one.
It's kind of annoying actually. I like peaceful and that one fish is triggering me. LOL

He/she will definitely find itself alone. I'll just add other fish to replace the other 3 if it comes to that. Right now I'm just letting nature take its course.
