Great fish for FOWLR. Reef, not so much.
Guess I should have stated what I have....72” 180 tank with live rock and a teardrop , saddleback and Klein’s butterfly. Some corals in the tank but only expendable ones like Blueridge colony and some montipora that they pick at and a bubbletip and a large colony of the large palys. Nothing I don’t mind them eating.
My goal is a butterfly display with a school of anthias and maybe some other small fish but highlighting the butterflies.

How easy was the fish to care for? Easy to get eating? Any tips for keeping them?
Thanks,Jim

Hello Jmm, I ,m wanting Butterfly's also. I'm looking for a a Pearl Scale or Puntata Butterfly. I understand the Pakistan's a pretty hardy for Butterfly's, though Iv'e not kept any.

Thanks for the response. I lost my pearlscale to an infection. They are beautiful fish though and I hope to have another at some point. Too many choices and not enough tank.....!
For me a Pakistan is as close to a wrought iron butterfly or reticulate as I am going to get. I love the dark colors and patterning. Also it stays a bit smaller.

I know what ya mean, Iv'e tried two pearl scales , lost both of them in QT a few days after bringing them home.

I was actually brave or stupid enough to try one in my reef along with a few others, a lemon, Klein’s a copperband and Pyramids. The pyramids were by far the most reef safe. I knew it would nip SPS and probably eat some zoas and fleshy LPS.... and I wasn’t disappointed..... it did, but no real damage. It was easy to feed, only ate frozen, and I fed heavily to curtail the nipping which seemed to help just no PE on any of the SPS. It was too beautiful of a fish not try , but I had to remove it because I just missed the PE on the SPS especially the Millie’s.
Just to add I did try a reticulate as well, but while In acclimation I just couldn’t wean it onto prepared foods. I even pressed frozen foods into dead coral branches, but no luck. The Pakistan was much easier.

Thanks for your Imput, it’s appreciated. I know reticulateds needs special care so no interest in trying one. The Pakistan however.... might just try one.
Thanks
