Can anyone confirm what type of tang this is? It was labeled as a palani tang but I can find almost no information or pictures on them. Seems like they are interchangeable or mistaken for dusemeri tangs.

Looked very unique body wise, something I haven't come across lately. I picked it up Saturday. Its a little skinny but is eating well so it should fatten up pretty quick.

I *think* that is a Thompson's Surgeonfish, Acanthurus thompsoni. I'm not positive but the white tail and dark body make me think that that's what it is. If I am correct, be prepared for a very large and active fish. I hope that this helps!

+1 on A. thomphsoni, beautiful fish but often overlooked due to the “bland” colouring is what I find. Although, it gets rather large in comparison to its commonly kept cousins.
