Palau neon green nephthia... feeding...

I have a Palau neon green nephthia since the summer...The person from Cultivated Corals where I bought him thought that they needed little feeding since they mostly photosynthesize...He hasn't grown much, I think light and current are adequate but I haven't done much target feeding because of that advise...So...how and what to feed, night or day...was she correct?...I have phytoplankton and Coral Frenzy available...awaiting an answer or two...Thanks...

I have a nephthia that doesn't stop growing. I don't target feed but I do have a large fish load. I do see the polyps close up after feeding the tank so I do know they benefit from feeding.

Leathers are mostly photosynthetic but do benefit from feedings of zooplankton and other food.
I just moved my tree leather last night. It was in the top of my tank and getting too much light and flow I believe. The tips were retracted. All of my other corals including the sps look happy.
I am no expert. But one thing I always read on here and other sites is stability of parameters. I am currently striving for that. I will even start testing my make up water for dKH, Cal, and Mag.

I've been keeping soft corals for more than a couple decades and early on I thought I needed to feed my leather corals and tried many products, but most grew algae more than the corals I was trying to feed.
So I stopped. My corals still grew.
IMO all you really need with soft corals is regular water changes.

I agree with mfinn. I tried feeding my softies and all I gained was algae and nitrates. they will be fine with light and whatever your feeding you fish. regular wc's are best.
