Palau neon green nephthia...looking lame...

I've had a green nephthia since the summer...its standing up, color is good, but it appears smaller than it was and the polyps are not showing...all #'s are good with especially low nitrate, 0, and phosphate, .25ppm)...does it like water with more nutrients?...the light is good and it has always been an impressive little guy...any ideas...

A few new softies this weekend...not much else...I'll test this morning for params...let you know...also had big storm lost power,,before we go the generator on lost scarlet cleaner, tail spot blennie and yellow tail...bad night...

These guys are quite hardy and will perk back up. Make sure you do not see any black tissue (necrosis). If you do, take out and use a Lugols' dip and get the dead tissue off.

Mine will close up often, that is not a worry. However, they like strong light and lots of flow (turbulent). They also like dirtier water (lots nutrients). Also, they need iodine in their water, so dosing once in a while with Lugol's is good. They are also very toxic, so they will kill most brain lps put too close to them.

Sorry for the loss man. Bummer. Carbon and water changes of course. I lost all my leathers a little while back from a colony of sponges dying in the sump. Rookie mistake here not enough to flow and light.

Check out the Lrs foods btw. You don't rinse them you don't need to. Lots of small foods for little mouths.

I run a fuge. To reduce Po I turn up the lights.
Btw hob fuge. Amazon look for $11 dollar breeder box.
And yea that's a small tank for a leather with others corals.

The only thing I've ever run in a nano is carbon and water changes.
If your feeding large amounts of shell fish you will have higher Po.

10g is not enough for that coral. It grows, and grows fast. It is also a big slimer. This slime is toxic to other corals. SPS and LPS hate this guy. I have been experience with this coral for 10 years and have seen what it can do.

If you keep it constantly trimmed, you could keep in 10g, but must remove to trim it and use lugols to soak to prevent bacterial infections and necrosis. Also, in a 10g, you will not successfully keep fleshy (brain) lps or many sps. Just too strong chemical warfare.

Carbon is a must with these guys. Only way to keep toxins down.

Sorry if this is bad news for you. However, you can keep mushrooms, and other softies with it just fine.

This is the ultimate problem with the mixed reef. Especially in a small tank. Best to keep genus or family specific in that small of a tank. Some corals will mix fine, this is not one of them.
