Hey all I have a question about Palm Caulerpa. I know caulerpa can be toxic but is it just certain ones? Is it when fish eat on it and it breaks down or does it just release the toxins? I heard especially towards sps corals. I was just given Palm Caulerpa and Grape Caulerpa. Can I put these in my fuge or do you think its too risky? I have 95% sps in my tank.

I wanted to use these with other macro algaes to make a display refugium but not if they are harmful to my corals.

Sort of - Caulerpa species have a variety of toxins, but, to my knowledge, only a few are currently known to be generally problematic (Caulerpenyne, Caulerpin, and Caulerpicin); some species don't have these ones, though they may have some other, generally mild toxins.

I haven't found a lot of research on the chemical composition of C. paspaloides (Palm Caulerpa), but there's a decent chance it's not or only mildly toxic.
