Paly possibly dying

I would just wait. You can dip it if you want, but then leave it and wait. I have had Paly's and Zoa's close up when I first put them in my tank, and some did not open back up until 10 days later, they can also slightly change color in different lighting. They dont look terrible to me, just closed up, but i am no expert.

The one head seems ok but the other has turned really clear and I’m not sure why

I have never had one turn clear before, but my guess is that it has lost some of its zooxanthellae, why or what caused this is beyond my expertise. Only advice i can give is leave it for a few more days and see what happens.

would it lose zooxanthellae from too much light or not enough light?

I came home from school and it seems worse. What should I do? Is there anything I can do to save it?

Should I raise it higher towards the light? Or does it have too much light?

I would stop messing with it for awhile. Continuing to handle it and take it out of the water is not going to help an unhappy zoa. There is only so much you can do for it. Dip it or not, but find a spot for it and let it be for awhile.

I just think it’s getting worse, the other head was opening yesterday and now today it’s starting to look like what happened to the first head

The only reason why a coral would loose its zooxanthellae quickly ( also called coral bleaching ) that I know of is if the water temp gets to warm. I do not think you lighting is a major issue. There is probably a number of things causing your coral to react this way. Corals are resilient and will try their best to adapt to your system. Remember your system is also still new and trying to find its rhythm, you will have some corals that don't make it during the first year or two. Just don't panic and react to hastily, just about everything you do to try and help one coral will effect every other coral you have.

I wish I had a answer for why your coral is acting this way, but we are all still learning about these amazing creatures and how to care for them. Thats what make this hobby so interesting, although very frustrating at times. I hope your coral makes it, and maybe you will find out what is going on and be able to help the next person.

Thanks for your help! Hopefully it gets better soon I don’t want to lose a new coral already :(
