My tanks been up for almost 3 months and is in the tail end of the ugly phase. Just introduced a goby and pistol shrimp. Strange thing is that the only coral I had was a paly that hitch hiked in on a piece of live rock. It started growing huge with its tentacle things reaching out a lot, particularly at night but now when I see it its looking all shrivelled. Like its kinda closed up inside out. I tried squirting it with some nano roid but it didnt look like it cared and didnt move or close up. Is it dying? Any ideas? Still dont know too much about corals. Here's some before and after shots so you can kind of see the difference

Those things are almost impossible to kill. It may be getting ready grow another polyp.

Oh wow. That looks really nice. Do you think I should keep mine? Everyone is telling me I should get rid of it because its on a small piece of live rock that has hydroids on it. Ive kept it seperated from the rest of my rock work but everyones telling me I should just remove the whole rock (including the paly) to avoid spread

Up to you. Those are Green Implosion Palys. I like them. Mine are not out of control but they can easily. Hydroids will go away on their own. If you like them keep them. Remember, it is your tank not theirs.

I've wondered myself if I will regret letting them spread some day, but obviously I've left them alone for now.

I like the look of them even though they are so common. I suppose I may be able to remove them some day if I need to. It's really your call. If you like it, keep it.

Very true. I keep hearing that the hydroids will take over my tank though, but I havent noticed anything yet. Only noticed some pineapple sponges popping up here and there. By the way, thanks for identifying this paly type for me
