Good morning!

Last night I noticed my torch was not looking too happy. The entire left side was closed up. Upon closer inspection my new Paly colony appeared to emitting what looked like 2 filiment like sweeper tentacles attacking the torch. I immediately moved it away from anything else.

Is this a thing? Do Palythoa have stingers like a Galaxia. I am admittedly newish to zoa/paly and was not aware they did this.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

Pics? I haven’t heard of paly sweepers before - may have been pooping and that irritated the torch.
I’d expect the torch to kill off the palys, before the palys bothered the torch. Likewise, the other stinging lps in the tank would probably be sooner to bother the torch if nearby (though the torch would probably win most fights).
Sometimes they also just randomly close up, sometimes if pooping or when splitting.

Thank you! I really wish I had the presence of mind to snap a pic. But it looked so similar to sweepers I have seen over the years and seeing as my torch was clearly ticked off, I panicked and went straight into rescue mode.

Thank you for the response. I feel much better in knowing it wasn't trying to sting.
